Channelling the Fabulous 1940's with Catrice and the Lipstick you HAVE to get

I adore Catrice. Every few months they bring out a new limited edition collection that seems to embody the feel of the season. For Christmas 2012 Catrice has the 1940's nailed with their latest collection: Hollywood's Fabulous 40's. And it really is Fabulous, Darling.

The collection is quite big with 2 Eyeshadow Quads, 4 Lippies, 5 Nail colours, a Blush, an Eyebrow Lifter, Eyebrow Gel and a High Gloss Lip Topcoat and gloss. I picked up a few bits from the collection to start with. (I will do a separate "lips &tips post with the polish).
I couldn't wait for good light to take pictures, so I got stuck in, fell in love... and took pictures later

Gorgeous detailing on the packaging

First up: Catrice Hollywood's Fabulous 40's Eyeshadow Quad 01 She's a Lady which costs just €4.99. Soft feminine colours that would look perfect on pale skin. The eyeshadow is soft, velvety, finely milled and the pigmentation is pretty good. The shadows blend together beautifully to create a few different looks. I am reaching for this quite a bit since I have had it, but I haven't been using it exclusively on my eyes. I have found this to be quite a handy little quad...

Shade 1:  on my eyelid (the move able part)
Shade 4:  above the crease of my eye right up to my eyebrow
Shade 3: Define my crease and sweep softly on my lower lashes. ALSO to define my eyebrows.
Shade 2: is a bit pink for my eyes, but its perfect to create a soft flush on my cheeks

Next, and I think the jewel of the collection Catrice Hollywood's Fabulous 40's Lipsticks in C01 Red Butler, and C03 Marlene's Favourite (RRP: €4.49 each). These are described as being velvety matte colours and and I can assure you the formulation is gorgeous. Matte colour without drying your lips out!

lipstick swatches are 2 swipes

I never thought I would be a fan of RED lippies, but I have been wearing Red Butler for the last few days and I love it. It is my perfect red. My teeth look like I whitened them (I haven't). It feels a bit like a balm on the lips and I have to remind myself not to smoosh my lips together too much as the colour doesn't dry/set. I feel like a movie star wearing it and I got a few compliments on the school run too.

If you treat yourself to one pre-Christmas treat this year, get one of these lipsticks. They smell lovely, don't taste horrible (sorry Rimmel) and don't dry your lips out. For less than a Fiver, you really can't go wrong.

Fab 40's lips and eyes and I am totally in love with Red Butler. Its going to be my Christmas Lipstick of 2012.
